Ball Hoops
Looking for some basket ball hoops?
If you’re looking through various basket ball hoops, you
have several options at the ready, you can go with either
the portable basket ball hoops or a mounted hoop. The
portable basketball hoops offer more versatility in that
they can be moved around to different spots on the driveway
and they height of the net can be adjusted. The
mounted hoop though is pretty much stuck in one place once
you mount it up atop the garage, it can’t be
moved.
The benefit of a mounted hoop though is it
can be pretty stable, enough so that you can dunk hard on
the net like professional basketball players do, it is also
quite a bit cheaper than the portable basketball
setup. We’re going to look at some of the better
options for both these types of nets so that you can make
your own mind up regarding which one to get:
1. Spalding 79354
Backboard/Rim Combo w/ 48” PolyCarbonate
Backboard
This is a good backboard compared to
others that are rounded and smaller, it is more like the
rectangular backboard used professionally although that of
course is much bigger and made of tempered glass rather than
PolyCarbonate.
This will cost you $114 at Amazon, it is a
high quality backboard that can be mounted on either a round
or square pole for a portable basketball system or you can
buy a separate universal mounting bracket for $20 and mount
it onto your garage.
The total price there comes out to quite a
bit, although it’s still cheaper than most portable
basketball hoops, also keep in mind that there are plenty of
other mountable hoops that retail for ½ this price at around
$50, however this is higher up on the food chain in terms of
quality.
The board may not be regulation size, but
at 4 feet across, it’s good enough for a kid to play
on.
2. Spalding Portable
Basketball System w/ 54” Aluminum Framed Glass
Backboard
Here’s one that is quite expensive,
$699.99 at Amazon, although one reviewer mentions it can be
found $250 cheaper elsewhere. With portable basket
ball hoops ranging in price from $200 to $500 to $1000 at
the upper end, this is a great mid-priced hoop.
It has a thicker pole compared to other
systems and as far as assembly, it’s not too difficult to
put together. The 54” backboard is what really sets
this apart from all other basket ball hoops as it really
makes you feel like you’re playing basketball in the
gym. The only downside is that this is difficult to
move once assembled, but you’ll be happy you spent the
additional $200-300 for the great quality backboard
here.
